Internal Recognition Programs

Recognition is a powerful motivator for a successful safety program, and safety success must be celebrated!

To show the company's commitment, Gilbane's Vice Chairman, Paul Choquette, established the Stop Work for Safety Award, which recognizes Gilbane employees who have taken extraordinary steps to ensure safety on their projects, even going as far as halting work to rectify a problem.

Other safety recognition programs include on-the-spot cash awards and celebration luncheons for milestone achievements such as 1 million man-hours without a Lost Work Day accident.

Gilbane promotes safety via project newsletters, safety alerts, and bulletins. In addition, Gilbane has developed a number of internal safety awards to recognize individuals and project teams who demonstrate dedication to safety:

Paul J. Choquette Safety Excellence Award
       - national award based on a project's safety record and methods
Class A Safety Award
       - for the safest superintendent in a region
Group Safety Award
       - for a project team, based on performance and attitude
Safety Champion Award
       - for an individual nominated by the regional safety manager
