The new 95,000-square-foot, five-floor Forest Resources Building will give Forest Resources 50 percent more space for teaching programs, outreach facilities, and research facilities. Teaching areas will include four teaching laboratories, two technology classrooms with 60- and 80-seat capacity, three computer laboratories, and a 150-seat auditorium. The research facilities will provide laboratory space for forest science, fisheries, water resources, wildlife, and wood products studies, including the Schatz Tree Genetics Center. The new building will also support the School’s outreach activities with teleconference room, five meeting rooms, a publication production space, and administrative areas. This project will seek LEED certification and will use Central Pennsylvania hardwoods as part of construction.

The new four-story, 126,000-square-foot Food Science building will include food processing/manufacturing space, chemistry and microbiology teaching laboratories, 7,500 square feet of wet and dry pilot plants, classrooms, and department and faculty offices to support the Department of Food Science of the College of Agricultural Sciences. Research laboratories explore numerous elements of food science: cereal chemistry; flavor chemistry; carbohydrates, protein, food colloids; confectionary and dry products; fruit, vegetables, plant; and food processing and packaging. In addition, the Berkey Creamery will be located in the new building, doubling its current size with expanded production (26,700 square feet for dairy production, freezer, and cooler), service space, and indoor and outdoor seating.

Pittsburgh Post Office & Courthouse Renovation, Pittsburgh, PA

Modernization of and addition to the historically registered Pittsburgh Post Office and Federal Courthouse.  Interior renovations of the building are to update existing offices and courtrooms, including upgrades to mechanical, electrical, fire safety, and security systems throughout.  The addition to the early 1930s federal building consists of infill between the three wings of the building to accommodate six new courtrooms and ancillary space.
