Fairfield University

Fairfield University is a small liberal arts college located in Southwestern Connecticut that is in the midst of a major facility expansion and modernization program. Gilbane has been involved in several of the construction programs and was asked to provide services related to long-term operations and maintenance services. At the time, Fairfield University was using different stand-alone applications for space planning, maintenance management and purchasing.

Gilbane i.management's initial assignment involved a detailed requirements analysis and solution design. A number of process flows were completed along with establishing data standards, naming conventions and numbering schemes when identifying assets. Reporting requirements were covered in detail to insure that the final solution was able to address specific concerns of the management team.

Following the requirements analysis and conforming to the standards established, Gilbane utilized our e.TOP^sm data collection process to assemble and classify space and equipment data for the DiMenna Nyselius Library, Barone Campus Center and Bannow Science Center buildings. This effort entailed the identification and collection of key data elements for approximately 1,100 locations and assets.

Data records included lists of contractors, manufacturers, OEM recommended preventive maintenance tasks and spare parts.

All assets were tagged using a barcoded label with tag number and asset description in conformance with the established standards and naming conventions.
