College Park, MD

The FDA was challenged with an initiative to transition its laboratory and administrative operations and staff from three metropolitan Washington, D.C., locations and multiple Maryland locations to a new Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) facility. This transition required intensive planning to maintain the integrity of the FDA's expansive collections of scientific specimens.

Gilbane's Transition Planning & Management developed a master plan encompassing the critical operational tasks and timelines required for successful completion of this long-term, multiphased project. Gilbane worked closely with the FDA project staff to manage and update the plan and budget, coordinate the move committees for both the administration and scientific communities, develop employee communications and training materials and manage move-related vendor activity. The Center realized significant cost and time savings through our strategy to package the preparation of scientific equipment and instrumentation under a single qualified vendor.
